COVID Safety Information – SLP Clinic

COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS

In order to keep everyone safe, here is what to expect at the SASS Speech and Language Clinic:

PREPARING FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT:

  • Masks are mandatory in all indoor spaces. Please wear a mask at all times.
  • If you do not have a mask or forget to wear a mask, a medical mask will be provided for you.
  • Complete the COVID-19 Pre-screening Questionnaire online via Jane (our online booking system) before coming to your appointment.
  • One friend or family member is allowed to attend the appointment with you.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE: 

  • Please arrive on time.
  • Public, wheelchair-accessible washrooms are available on the 1st floor of the Friedman Building. As you enter the building through the main doors, turn right and go approximately half-way down the hallway.  The washroom is located on the left-hand side of the hallway.
  • The SASS Speech and Language Clinic is located on the 3rd floor. As you enter the building through the main doors, walk straight towards the elevator. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor, and you will see signs for the SASS Speech and Language Clinic in front of you.
  • Your appointment will be in Room 341 or Room 342. You will see these rooms as you come off the elevator on the 3rd
  • You will be asked to sanitize your hands before entering the clinic room.
  • Student clinicians and the Speech-Language Pathologists will be wearing masks at all times, and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when needed (e.g., gloves).

WHEN YOU LEAVE: 

  • After your Speech and Language appointment, you will go to the 2nd floor to the Physical Therapy & Research Clinic (PTRC).
  • You will pay the Administrative Assistant for your Speech and Language session.
  • Payment will be accepted via tap (e.g., debit or credit card).
  • Insurance (if applicable) will be direct billed.
  • Receipts for your session will be emailed.
  • Please clean your hands before leaving the PTRC and the Friedman Building.

WHAT WE ARE DOING TO HELP PROTECT YOU:

  • There is no late cancellation policy. If you are sick, call (604) 827-6959 to cancel the appointment.
  • All ‘high-touch’ surfaces (e.g., chairs, tables, door handles, equipment, etc.) will be cleaned and disinfected after each client session and throughout the day.
  • There will be a 15-minute period between appointments to ensure there is enough time for cleaning and disinfecting.
  • All clinic staff are required to complete a COVID-19 self-assessment screening tool before starting their workdays.

WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU: 

  • Do not attend if you have tested positive for COVID-19 or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
  • Do not attend if you have a cough, fever, or have been sick or in contact with someone with these symptoms within the past 2 weeks.
  • Do not attend if you have been out of the country or out-of-province within the past 2 weeks.
