Clinical Faculty Awards

Congratulations to our three deserving Clinical Faculty Award winners: Don MacAskill, Sherri Millham, and Allen Shoolingin!

Every year, UBC School of Audiology and Speech Sciences (SASS) recognizes members of its clinical faculty who demonstrate excellence in, and commitment to the clinical education of students.

This year, the 2019 Elizabeth MacLeod Award for Excellence in Clinical Education (Speech-Language Pathology) was awarded to two recipients: Sherri Millham and Allen Shoolingin, who both practice at Vancouver General Hospital. Sherri has been an attentive and a clear communicator, carefully balancing students’ growth while modeling clinical excellence. Her dedication to fostering this personal element and individual tailoring of the learning experience is recognized by her students and the School. Allen has an inspiring and supportive approach, and students comment that he is held in high regard by both colleagues and clients. It is this feedback from students that attests to his exemplary skills as an educator and mentor.

The 2019 Noelle Lamb Award for Excellence in Clinical Education (Audiology) was awarded to Don MacAskill, Victoria Health Unit. Students consistently comment about his supportive, engaging and thoughtful teaching methods, and his skill at tailoring his mentoring to support each student’s strengths and learning goals.

Please accept our most sincere congratulations!
