This Holiday Season, Please Support the Legacy of Professor Judith R. Johnston

The holidays are a great time to share joy and gratitude with and for the people in our lives. We are grateful for the life, teaching and research of our friend Judith Johnston, a former Director and faculty member of the School of Audiology and Speech Sciences at UBC.

Throughout her career, Judith’s brilliant intellect led to the advancement of research investigating the developmental relationships between language and cognition, specifically in child language and child language disorders. In her retirement, Judith generously offered her invaluable wisdom and assistance to our students and faculty as Emerita Professor.

As you know, Judith passed away in the latter part of 2018 after a long period with Parkinson’s. In continuation of her unwavering generosity and desire to further the field, Judith has provided a legacy gift to establish a doctoral fellowship. The Dr. Judith Johnston Fellowship in Child Language will support a Ph.D. student whose research focuses on child language and child language disorders. To be able to fully fund this doctoral fellowship in perpetuity, an additional $50,000 is needed.

This holiday season, we would like to ask you to consider making a special, year-end donation to support Judith’s legacy.
