In memory of Divina Ridley

It is with great sadness that we announce that our wonderful colleague, Divina Ridley, passed away, on July 4, 2020.

Divina joined our School in the summer 2018 as Aboriginal Student Community Learning Experience Coordinator. In her role, Divina helped students find Indigenous community visits for students as part of their enrolment in the AUDI 540 course (“Approaches to Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology for People of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Heritage”). For this course, she also organized yearly visits with students and faculty to the UBC First Nations House of Learning (Longhouse), coordinated meetings among students, faculty and community Elders, and provided administrative support.

Divina was enthusiastic and dedicated to student learning. She had a contagious smile, and a gentle character that made people feel at ease in her presence. Throughout her illness, Divina remained strong and positive, until the very end.

She will be very much missed, and will be remembered with fondness at our School.

We would like to offer our sympathies to her family and friends.
