2020 Clinical Faculty Awards

The School of Audiology and Speech Sciences is honoured to announce the recipients of the Awards for excellence in Clinical Education for 2020.

Monica Francella received the Elizabeth MacLeod Award for Excellence in Clinical Education (Speech-Language Pathology) for 2020. Monica practices through the CAYA-Communication Assistance for Young Adults program and she works in the Vancouver Coastal Health region. Monica is a long-standing member of our Clinical Faculty and is well known and held in high regard by the clinical community. Her students observed that Monica builds confidence through feedback and conversations that focus on self-reflection and positive solutions. Her active caring and kindness, supported her students to develop in a seamless progression towards independence.

Dr. Anne Woolliams received the Noelle Lamb Award for Excellence in Clinical Education (Audiology) for 2020. Dr. Woolliams is an Audiologist and the owner of Soundwave Audiology with several sites in Alberta.  She leads a tremendous team of Audiologists and has been a Clinical Faculty member and consistent supporter of the UBC  Audiology program for more than 15 years.   Dr. Woolliams has special interests in pediatric hearing care, tinnitus management and auditory processing disorders.   Students placed at her clinics consistently noted her passion for Audiology and that she prioritizes time for ongoing learning, not just for students but for herself and the rest of her team.  Students feel well supported to develop to the best of their potential under her mentorship.

The faculty and administration of School of Audiology and Speech Sciences are pleased to have the opportunity to recognize Monica and Anne for their many contributions to the School’s clinical education program, and would like to extend sincere congratulations to them both.
