The International Aphasia Rehabilitation Conference 2020 is less than one year away!

The International Aphasia Rehabilitation Conference 2020 (IARC 2020) is less than one year away! IARC 2020 will be held at the UBC campus from June 18 to 20, 2020. The keynote speakers include:

  1. Aura Kagan from the Aphasia Institute in Toronto

Dr. Kagan is the developer of Supported Conversation for Adults with Aphasia (SCATM) and the Assessment for Living with Aphasia. Her recent research includes adapting SCATM for acute care and families.

  1. Nina Simmons-Mackie from Southeastern Louisiana University in Louisiana

Dr. Simmons-Mackie is the co-founder of the Aphasia Access organization. Her recent research publications include “Aphasia in North America” (the 2018 white paper report on the state of aphasia rehabilitation in the U.S. and Canada) and “The top 10: Best practice recommendations for aphasia rehabilitation.”

  1. Carole Pound from London, UK

Dr. Pound was the co-founder of Connect, a UK organization supporting people with aphasia and their family and friends. Her recent research includes friendship and aphasia and humanizing healthcare.

The three keynote speakers will also participate in an aphasia-friendly conference day specifically for people with aphasia and their family members on Sunday, June 21, 2020.
