    This position is funded through UBC’s Work-Learn Program. In the role, the program assistant works under the direct supervision of the SLP coordinator in addition to working closely with the Aphasia Mentors, SLP and audiology graduate students and community partners. Duties of the Program Assistant include:

    • Assist the SLP coordinator in developing aphasia-friendly resources to support the Program.
    • Set up the clinical rooms for the Program each week (e.g. set up the tables, chairs, computer, iPads, whiteboards, paper, pens, tea, and coffee, and write the program agenda on the whiteboard).
    • Greet and converse with the aphasia mentors when they arrive in the main clinical room.
    • Participate as needed during group work activities. Contribute to making the sessions aphasia friendly (e.g. conducting online computer searches during specific clinical activities)
    • Type aphasia-friendly brief minutes of the Program each week for the aphasia mentors.
    • Write and send aphasia-friendly e-mails to the aphasia mentors about key Program announcements.
    • Produce audio versions of specific written resources for the aphasia mentors.
